Banchors Aweigh

Many banks have a long history. Northfield Savings Bank has something even more powerful. From the day of our founding in 1867 and continuing to today, a constant and resilient thread of meeting and supporting Vermonters in the moment has defined us. This powerful legacy fuels our actions, shapes our character, and separates us from other banks and credit unions. We are proud to be Vermont’s largest local bank with 14 locations serving over 35,000 consumer and commercial customers. We are also one of Vermont’s few remaining mutual savings banks, owned by our depositors, not shareholders, and offering investment services through Northfield Investment Services. We are proud to participate in the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival supporting Dragonheart Vermont and its partner, Sail Beyond Cancer VT

Dream Weavers

The Dream Weavers team is a true community team woven together from folks from the Old North End neighborhood of Burlington and the Vermont Weavers Guild (and all the friends each member could recruit). You could say we are organically grown. We are bound together by the common interest in being a source of hope for community members and giving back to fellow Vermonters."

Fanny Pack

We’re back this year and ready for another day of fun and friendly competition! We have some returning paddlers and some new faces! We represent the Inpatient Rehab Center at UVM Medical Center where we are dedicated to helping people return to everyday life. We proudly support Dragonheart Vermont and its partner, Sail Beyond Cancer VT.

Fire Breathing Lab Dragons

We are a bunch of lab rats from UVM Health Network Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. We are "out for blood", "streaking" over the racecourse, hoping to "slide" into a medal position, looking for "positive results"!

Freedom, Unity & Love Boat

The Freedom, Unity & Love Boat” is made up of Vermont Town Clerks and Treasurers and members and friends of the Mount Mansfield Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (MMUUF). Vermont Clerks take an oath to support the Constitution of the State of Vermont and of the United States, and are the record keepers at the heart of our communities, serving everyone equally, justly and respectfully. MMUUF members and friends heartily support that work and all other efforts to stand on the side of love. We are paddling together in memory of Dr. Joanna Weinstock, who was a member of MMUUF and paddled on the F&U Love Boat last year along with her family members. Her spirit and her memory are blessings for us all.

Periop Pirates

We are a crew consisting of preoperative professionals hailing from the University of Vermont Medical Center. Most of the crew are first-timers to Dragonboat. The captain and her right hand skipper will be “braving the seas” the second time around. The atmosphere, comradery, and experience overall is amazing to be around and who doesn’t enjoy being out on a warm, sunny day on the lake?! Additionally, almost all of us have had a loved one, friend, patient, or acquaintance, or themselves who have been diagnosed with cancer. Supporting and fundraising for cancer support organizations are ways to give back to the community. Therefore, supporting this fundraiser is close to our hearts.

Premier Breast Strokes

Premier Rehab and Healthcare at Burlington, is a nursing and rehabilitation center that offers a wide array of services to ensure our residents receive the medical care they need, the restorative therapy they require, and the support they deserve. We serve a wide range of patient and resident needs – from short-term rehab to traditional long-term care. Our staff are thrilled to be participating in our FIRST Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival! Paddle Strong, Paddle Together! You can't beat these dragons!

Pull Together

Captain Baki says: “I joined the First Congregational Church in Burlington in 2017 and summer of that year for the first time I was introduced to Dragonheart VT by Thea Knight, and she recruited me to paddle for the church team; PULL TOGETHER. I so much enjoyed the sport but much more than that I was touched by the mission of DHVT and support of BCS. My grandmother was a breast cancer survivor and so is my mother. So, I met with John Dyer and joined the family of DHVT .” Our church is passionate about investing in downtown Burlington, and sees the festival as a perfect way to support a good cause as well as our community all while having fun together. Our team, PULL TOGETHER FIRST CHURCH, has participated in the festival for several years. We've even won some trophies along the way! This year we are excited to include Lake Champlain Dragonboat Festival on a whole slate of waterfront activities! We are honored to be part of a community that supports this great cause, helping cancer survivors to live with hope and get the treatment they need.

Rhythm & Blues

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont’s Rhythm and Blues team will rock (but hopefully not roll!) through the waves to victory, paddling toward a healthier Vermont! Our goal is to make the competition sing the “blues” and help find a cure for breast cancer. Come race day, we’ll be paddlin’ with rhythm.

Sail Beyond Cancer Vermont--Pledge Partner

Sail Beyond Cancer Vermont is thrilled to be paddling in this year’s Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival! Our team is fueled by the same mission that guides our sails: to honor those challenged by cancer by harnessing the healing power of water, wind and now, paddles! We're participating in this powerful event to raise awareness and vital funds so we can continue offering meaningful moments of peace, joy, and connection out on the lake. With every stroke, we paddle in honor, in memory, and with deep gratitude. Our novice crew will bring spirit, energy and enthusiasm to the day.

Back again for 2024, this compilation of friends, family, hockey and rugby connections, and our famous Shamrock breast cancer hockey tournament will try again to take home a trophy!
