I never thought I’d be diagnosed with breast cancer. I had no family history, no obvious risk factors, and I felt (and still feel!) strong and healthy. But here I am, nine months from diagnosis, through the initial shock and the bulk of active treatment. I’m feeling good (still strong, still healthy)  with a few scars, a lot more medicine and supplements, and a whole new perspective. I’m also incredibly grateful for research, my care team, the support of friends and family, and a job that made space for healing.

This year, I’m paddling in the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival to raise money for organizations that support people like me. People facing cancer with courage, community, and a whole lot of love.
