Why I choose to paddle...

This summer marks the 4th year of my dad's passing from cancer.

Late 2020, my dad, John "Jack" Walsh, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer known as glioblastoma. Unfortunately this type of cancer almost always becomes terminal.

He began treatment right away, including brain tumor removal, chemotherapy, and radiation. Shortly after he contracted pneumonia in rehab followed by COVID-19.

He has always been a strong fighter, and this situation was no different. He kept on fighting despite the odds being against him. He was even trying to "work from home" during this time since his work (forensic engineering) was his passion.

Shortly after he started having seizures and had to return to the hospital for further treatment, and then to a hospice for palliative care. He spent ~5 months in hospice until his passing in July 2021.

His life was full and his main source of happiness was lifting others up. He had a love of Vermont and Lake Champlain. If he was with us, he would have been front and center taking photos of the whole team and cheering us on.

This year I choose to paddle again for him in his honor. If you're able to make a contribution, I would be incredibly grateful. Any amount is well appreciated.
